Our full surf courses are perfect for surfers of all skill levels- starting at age 5+. We provide a complete, hands-on learning experience that helps you build foundational surf skills while having fun and staying safe in our Hawaiian waters.

🌴 15 Minutes on Land ⏰ - Surf Classroom: Learn proper paddle and pop-up techniques with personalized instruction from a private coach before paddling out. - Gear Up: We provide complimentary rental rashguard tops and water footgear for our students' comfort and protection.
👕 Surf Shirt + Shoes Included 👣 - Students will be fitted with rental shoes and rashguard surf tops in classroom. (Free Rentals).
🚗 15-minute Self Drive Time 🚕 Students must self-transport (4 mile coastline drive) from Classroom to Surf Location at Kahalu'u Bay. - HLSI does not provide student transportation. Uber and Lyft services are available. - All gear is transported ahead of your class by your instructor.
🏄 90 Minutes on the Water 🏄♀️ - Private Surf Coaching: Personalized instruction covering ocean safety, including navigating currents and coral reef breaks. First Kona Surf Experience? If you’ve had a surf lesson before but never experienced Kona’s waves, we’ll guide you through our home break at Kahaluʻu Bay. Learn local ocean safety, cultural respect, and how to read the lineup—so you can ride with confidence and aloha.
